■ The forest of Villecartier
The Villecartier Forest is a magnificent high forest of beeches and oaks, a old royal forest of 1000 ha, vestige of the original forest which recovered all Armorique.
Before, the Forest welcomed coalmen, clog makers and other workers. Today, the forest is became a place for leisure and Nature. Following the hiking trails, you will discover its charm : the pond, the valley, some curiosities, little monuments and remarkable trees.
You can follow the hikes of le Sentier des Petits Monuments (9.5 km) or le circuit de la Croix de Montaugé (6 km).
Watch out : one common part of these tours in the forest is altered by a wood cutting area and the marking is not as important as in onther part of the forest. The map reading is advideced in this area. This wood cutting is planned to provide to the forest a better future with climate change by interchanging beech trees for oak trees.
Before adventuring yourself in the forest, be careful about the hundings days, some saturdays and mondays between the end of September until the end of February : Hunting dats in the forest of Villecartier 2021-2022
